Job Description
British Airways Engineering are seeking technical engineers in both aircraft and gas turbine engine technical disciplines to work in small teams of technical specialists in the Engineering Services Department. The role is technically and commercially challenging at the forefront of our business managing aircraft or gas turbine engine maintenance, repair and overhaul.
The role requires occasional worldwide travel to manufacturers, maintenance suppliers, and industry events worldwide as required to support the business. If you have detailed knowledge of safety and quality management systems, regulatory requirements, aircraft and/or engine maintenance repair and overhaul business and ideally have a background working with several aircraft and/or engine types in the British Airways fleet then this could be the opportunity to bring your expertise to British Airways. Job Purpose
Responsible for following laid down technical procedures in the business of technical, quality and commercial management of the gas turbine engine maintenance, repair and overhaul. Deliver to a very high standard of safety, technical and cost performance targets. Initiate and support business development initiatives in support of the business plan. Liaison with the engine manufactures and contracted engine maintenance suppliers.
Principal Accountabilities
Prepare technical data to ensure safe maintenance, repair, overhaul and modification of BA engines and related nacelle hardware
Provide specialist technical support as required with due regard for safety, technical, regulatory and commercial requirements
Monitor engine technical and quality performance and develop corrective actions
Compile and/or approve engine repair workscopes of value up to circa £10m
Assessment of engine shop findings reports challenging and developing the OEM repair data
Investigate air safety and ground occurrence reports/events and implement preventative actions
Identify and support simplification and continuous improvement initiatives
Identify cost saving initiatives and deliver to finance plan targets
Evaluate and respond to industry data and knowledge
Essential Qualifications
Degree or minimum of HNC / HND (or equivalent) in an appropriate engineering subject.
Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent industry experience
Experience
High degree of business awareness
Experience of supplier management and business relationship development
Engine hardware knowledge gained through considerable hands on experience
Experience of component, system and material technical investigations
Experience of whole engine and component repair and overhaul processes
Expertise
Safety and quality management systems
Regulatory requirements
Engine design & materials including core engine hardware, engine mechanical and avionic systems and structures
Engine MRO processes and procedures
Ability to hold EASA Part M/145/21 Technical Engineer related company approvals
