  32. Inserting images – Insert an image into the body of an email for easy viewing and sending.
  33. Signature tweaks – This Gmail lab adds your signature before the quoted text in a reply, and removes the “–” line that appears before signatures according to Gmail Labs.
  34. Random Signature – Love quotes? Add this lab and have rotating quotes in your email signature.
  35. Mail Goggles – A must have for any student. A drunk emailing guard for late night angry emails to professors that may be failing you, of course, for no reason.

AirAsia suspend operations from GMR Hyderabad International Airport Pvt. Ltd (Ghial)

AirAsia pulls out of Hyderabad airport over increased levies

Move comes after Ghial increased international passenger charges by almost 100% to turn profitable faster

Malaysian low-fare carrier AirAsia Berhad will from 11 January suspend operations from the Hyderabad airport because of increased levies on international passengers, setting a precedent that could hurt operators of swank, new airports built with billions of dollars in investment.

AirAsia’s move comes about two months after GMR Hyderabad International Airport Pvt. Ltd (Ghial) increased international passenger charges by almost 100% to turn profitable faster, after receiving approval from the airport regulator Airports Economic Regulatory Authority.

Hyderabad airport charges Rs1,875 per international traveller as a user development fee as it tries to recoup the cost of building the Rs2,920 crore airport. It was allowed to increase the fee in October from Rs1,000. Domestic passengers are paying Rs475, 26% up from Rs375 earlier.

“If we have to pay Rs1,875 plus Rs225 as passenger service fee, Rs515 as a service tax on a Rs4,000 average air fare, how do we operate?” said Suresh Nair, regional manager (India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh) at AirAsia.

AirAsia expanded its Indian operations significantly in 2009 and 2010.

It now operates 68 weekly flights from India, up from four in 2008. AirAsia started direct services between Hyderabad and Kuala Lumpur in July 2010, with four weekly flights.

Nair said the airline had written to Ghial to offer relief from the increased charges, but there had been no reply from the airport operator, forcing AirAsia to pull out.

Ghial said it was “certainly disappointed with this move” but said the pullout by the airline didn’t have anything to do with higher charges.

FAA Authorizes Learjet 60 Pilots to Check Aircraft Tire Pressure with Crane SmartStem

Learjet 60 Pilots Authorized by FAA to Check Aircraft Tire Pressure with Crane SmartStem Authorizes

Crane Aerospace & Electronics
Passive, electronic tire pressure sensing systems, including SmartStem, are now allowed for tire pressure checks that need to be made within 96 hours before take-off.

Crane Aerospace & Electronics

Lynnwood, Wash. – January 7, 2011 – The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued guidance which permits the flight crews of Learjet 60 aircraft flying Part 135 to use Crane Aerospace & Electronics’ SmartStem® Passive Wireless Tire Pressure System to check tire pressure on their own aircraft.

This announcement permits a significant simplification in the way a Part 135 operator can comply with the FAA’s Airworthiness Directive, effective July 13, 2010, which requires tire pressure checks to be made within 96 hours before take-off. Although the use of manual gauges is still prohibited for Part 135 Pilots, passive, electronic tire pressure sensing systems, including SmartStem, are now allowed.

SmartStem was developed by Crane Aerospace & Electronics to provide a fast and reliable method of checking tire pressure without gas loss - plus tire pressure can be checked without the removal of the valve stem cap. It is also designed to be easily retrofitted on existing aircraft. The SmartStem system for the Learjet 60 is currently available via FAA STC #ST02316LA offered by Crane Aerospace & Electronics. Kits can be purchased at www.craneae.com/Learjet60SS.

Learjet 60 operators under Part 135 were previously required to have tire pressure checks performed by an A&P Certified Mechanic, which frequently added substantial operational costs and delays when operating in remote locations.

Bombardier has posted an instructional video and other material on their CIC website at www.cic.bombardier.com in “Hot Topics”. A copy of Bombardier’s Advisory Wire, AW32-055, which makes this announcement is also available at this location.
