Aerostat System Capable of carrying Electro-Optic and COMINT payloads for Surveillance - DRDO

DRDO Demonstrates Indigenous Aerostat System

The DRDO demonstrated its indigenously designed and developed aerostat system capable of carrying electro-optic and COMINT payloads for surveillance. Trials of the system have been concluded on Saturday, December 25, 2010. These included surveillance all over Agra and interception of variety of communications. ELINT and RADAR payloads are also being developed indigenously. This platform is a result of development of a number of high end technologies in the field of aerodynamic design of balloon, fabrics, fabrication, hydraulic winch, electro-optic tether, high pressure helium cylinder manifold, active pressure control system etc in association with large and medium sized Industrial partners.

The system has been designed, developed and integrated by the Aerial Delivery Research & Development Establishment (ADRDE), Agra Cantt, a premier laboratory under the Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO) working in the field of parachutes, lighter than air systems, floatation systems and aircraft arrester barriers. ADRDE has developed and supplied various types of parachutes for wide range of applications viz. Paradropping men, weapons, Combat Vehicles, Stores etc, braking of fighter Aircraft and Recovery of payloads pertaining to missiles, UAV and space missions. Over the last few years, ADRDE has diversified into the field of lighter-than-Air (LTA) technologies and developed small and medium size Aerostats. Recently, ADRDE has developed a state-of-the-art medium size helium filled Aerostat and successfully test flown up to one km altitude at Agra.

Dr. Prahlada, DS & CC R&D (Aerospace & Services Interaction) congratulated the team and brought out the facts that ADRDE had graduated from a laboratory designing and developing balloons, parachutes and heavy air-drop systems to developing systems of systems. The complete balloons systems, ground based command and control systems, and payloads have been integrated for full exploitation. The gimbals, with 360 degree azimuth freedom and high degree freedom in elevation is highly stabilized and can carry out steering, scanning and tracking with high precision. The payload also carries thermal camera for surveillance during night and in low visibility condition. The electronic intelligence payload carries a communication intelligence system for capturing and analyzing all types of communications in air.

Health monitoring of aerostat and simultaneous command and controlling of payload from ground control station has been demonstrated. The system will be useful for three services, paramilitary forces as well as have civilian applications including disaster management. This milestone comes in the wake of new generation high altitude aerostats/airships that will be developed by DRDO.

Aircraft Maintenance | Aeronautical Engineering Education in EMIRATES AVIATION COLLEGES

Aviation Studies U.A.E and how loads of Aerospace | Aeronautical Engineering graduates are still without jobs?

The leading aviation colleges in the Middle East

Job in Emirates Airlines Facts:

Most of the aviation maintenance students dream to be part of the emirates airlines.

But getting a job into Arab airlines is not an easy task, in some cases emirates airlines do help you but there is no guarantee.

It is the situation that no one wants to take an inexperienced aircraft maintenance students in U.A.E before an after recession.

The aviation maintenance/airline companies are looking for an individual who would pick up his tools and start working like a “professional Maintenance Engineer” but all the experience we get back here is sheet metal, wire locking and in "wheels and brakes".

The situation has always been similar for every aircraft maintenance engineering students.

What comes to your mind when you read airline/maintenance company's name? are they part of Emirates groups ?

1) Air Arabia: A “low cost” carrier based in Sharjah the Manager said, "we are a low cost airline and we do not have time nor the money to train new trainee's”. Now  they are charging 820 $ for a month of OJT, they charging students to work for them and even this training wont help you get a job either.

2) Emirates Airlines: They are the only company, which has taken students once a while but to score a job or get OJT you need to have influence.

3) ADAT: Similar situation, to score a job or get OJT you need to have influence.

4) Etihad Airlines: Engineering operations are carried out by ADAT.

5) Fly Dubai: Engineering operations are carried out by Emirates engineering.

6) Jet Aviation: Caries out no OJT training programs (neither is interested) and to get a job you need to have a minimum of five years of working experience.

7) ExecuJet: Caries out no OJT programs (neither is interested) and to get a job you need to have a minimum of five years of working experience.

8) Dolphin Air: Caries out no OJT programs (neither is interested) and to get a job you need to have a minimum of five years of working experience.

9) Ave Air- Caries out no OJT programs (neither is interested) and to get a job you need to have a minimum of five years of working experience.

10) Royal Air wing: Will never employ a fresh graduate.

11) Airbus Middle East: “Go on the website and check, they do not carry out such engineering apprenticeship maintenance programs . In U.A.E and Airbus Middle East only hire from Europe.

12) Boeing Middle East : They also do not carry out such programs In U.A.E and they only hire from U.S.A.

13) Aerovista, Air Cess, Al Jaber Aviation, Al Rais Cargo, Eastern SkyJets, Falcon Aviation Services, Falcon Express Cargo Airlines, Kang Pacific Airlines, Maximus Air Cargo, Midex Airlines, Palm Aviation, Royal Jet, SkyLink Arabia and Western Aviation.

All these airlines have the similar situations they have 3rd party maintenance by companies mentioned above or similar OJT and job conditions which are not very graduate friendly.

The thing i have shared with you is the condition of a Aerospace Engineering Graduates career situation in U.A.E and how loads of aircraft maintenance engineer graduates are still without jobs.

Kingfisher is the first Indian carrier to have placed orders for the world's largest Aircraft, A-380s

Vijay Mallya's Kingfisher Airlines placed orders to purchase 50 wide-bodied and single-aisle aircraft from the European consortium Airbus Industrie worth billions of dollars.

The deal was signed at the ongoing Paris Airshow by the UB Group Chairman himself and Airbus COO John Leahy on Wednesday, according to an Airbus spokesperson. The agreement is for the purchase of 15 A350-800 XWBs (extended wide-bodied), ten A330-200s, five A340-500s and 20 aircraft from the A320 family, that is A-318s, A-319s, A-320s and A-321s. Kingfisher is the first Indian carrier to have placed orders for the world's largest aircraft, A-380s. It will purchase five of these planes which are expected to be delivered by 2011-12. After signing the deal at the Le Bourget airport, Mallya said his airline's strategy was to open ‘new long haul routes and expand existing ones’. "With the A340-500 and then the A350 XWB, we will be able to offer direct routes between India and the US for example.

The A330 will allow us to expand services to Europe and the A320s will help us meet demand in our home region", he said. Kingfisher is yet to be permitted by the government to operate globally as it has not completed the mandatory five years of domestic operations, though it satisfies the other condition for international operations of having a 20-aircraft fleet.

This signifies better aviation job opportunities and growth of  aircraft maintenance engineering job vacancies.
