Job Description
Job Purpose
Responsible for following laid down technical procedures to deliver aircraft safety and cost performance targets for BA’s fleet of aircraft along with continuous improvement of aircraft technical performance, engineering process and procedures.
Deliver to a very high standard of safety, technical and cost performance targets. Initiate and support business development initiatives in support of the business plan. Liaison with aircraft manufactures and contracted maintenance suppliers.
Job Dimensions
Member of a small team responsible for specification and implementation of fleet maintenance and modification policies
Investigation of defects and formulation of corrective actions to maintain maximum safety and reliability at optimum cost
The role is based at LHR and may require regular travel to aircraft manufacturers or industry events worldwide as required to support the business
Provision of out of hours support as required.
Principal Accountabilities
Ensure the ultimate safety and Airworthiness of the operation within the framework of the Regulatory Authority and Legislation requirements, whilst optimising cost
Constantly review and develop long term aircraft fleet reliability programmes to meet future requirements and minimise disruption to the operation
Assess all relevant Regulatory Authority requirements and Directives and implement appropriate action to ensure continued compliance with Airworthiness Requirements
Assess significant Air Safety Reports/Incidents, investigate and implement corrective action as necessary, in a controlled and timely manner
Essential Qualifications
Degree or minimum of HNC / HND (or equivalent) in an appropriate engineering subject
Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent industry experience
Experience
High degree of business awareness
Experience of supplier management and business relationship development
Specific knowledge of aircraft systems gained through considerable hands on experience ·
Experience of component, system and material technical investigations
High degree of business awareness
Experience of working in project teams
Expertise
Safety and quality management systems
Regulatory requirements
Ability to hold EASA Part M/145/21 Technical Engineer related company approvals
Detailed knowledge of regulatory requirements and maintenance programmes
Detailed understanding of safety /quality matters
Detailed knowledge of at least one aircraft type
Aircraft systems knowledge
