The Position:
Based at Rio de Janeiro International Airport,you will carry out maintenance and certification of aircraft (including cabin maintenance) to ensure best possible standards for all systems and passenger amenities. You will liaise with the Head Office and other concerned parties in the event of defects affecting the dispatch of the aircraft and will supervise mechanics, technicians and all aspects of servicing, defect rectification and maintenance carried out on the aircraft. In addition you will be responsible for taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety of personnel working in the vicinity of the aircraft and to prevent damage to the aircraft and/or it?s equipment. Assisting with the administration of the station including: materials handling, equipment servicing, reporting processes, rostering and other associated duties will also be part of the role.
Experience and Qualifications:
You will have a minimum of 10 years aviation experience of which at least 7 years as a certifying Engineer with supervisory experience. You will have completed approved training that resulted in the issuance of an EASA 66 B1 or ICAO Type 2 license. You must have thorough technical skills and knowledge of aircraft systems and safety practices. You should hold B777-200LR/300ER with GE90 engine approvalsand have been trained to EASA 147 or level 3 standards will your application be considered. Other types of a/c operated by Emirates would be an advantage. You will be computer literate and a good standard of proficiency with office applications. The ability to communicate effectively at all levels in English and Brazilian Portuguese is also required.

During the year you will have contact with engineering training instructors on a regular basis. There will also be a liaison officer from within the British Airways Engineering training department aligned to each college who will monitor and address any issues from the programme.
At the end of the first year students will be required to apply to British Airways for a placement and go through an interview process. Successful candidates will be able to complete years two and three of the apprenticeship with British Airways on a paid 2-year, fixed-term contract based at Heathrow Airport.
In years 2 and 3 you will work for four days a week gaining invaluable experience in the work place on live aircraft and gaining first hand experience of aircraft systems and component overhaul and testing. You will then attend your partner college on a day-release basis for the fifth day. A college placement advisor will also visit you on a regular basis to in the workplace to discuss your progress.
When at college during years 2 & 3 you will be required to study for a City & Guilds 2661 (level 3 qualification) which provides a strong grounding for any future aircraft engineering licence programmes (A, B1/B2 and C). On completion of the apprenticeship you may be offered a full-time contract as a mechanic subject to the appropriate selection process.

When at college during years 2 & 3 you will be required to study for a City & Guilds 2661 (level 3 qualification) which provides a strong grounding for any future aircraft engineering licence programmes (A, B1/B2 and C). On completion of the apprenticeship you may be offered a full-time contract as a mechanic subject to the appropriate selection process.

Job Description
British Airways Engineering are seeking technical engineers in both aircraft and gas turbine engine technical disciplines to work in small teams of technical specialists in the Engineering Services Department. The role is technically and commercially challenging at the forefront of our business managing aircraft or gas turbine engine maintenance, repair and overhaul.
The role requires occasional worldwide travel to manufacturers, maintenance suppliers, and industry events worldwide as required to support the business. If you have detailed knowledge of safety and quality management systems, regulatory requirements, aircraft and/or engine maintenance repair and overhaul business and ideally have a background working with several aircraft and/or engine types in the British Airways fleet then this could be the opportunity to bring your expertise to British Airways. Job Purpose
Responsible for following laid down technical procedures in the business of technical, quality and commercial management of the gas turbine engine maintenance, repair and overhaul. Deliver to a very high standard of safety, technical and cost performance targets. Initiate and support business development initiatives in support of the business plan. Liaison with the engine manufactures and contracted engine maintenance suppliers.
Principal Accountabilities
Prepare technical data to ensure safe maintenance, repair, overhaul and modification of BA engines and related nacelle hardware
Provide specialist technical support as required with due regard for safety, technical, regulatory and commercial requirements
Monitor engine technical and quality performance and develop corrective actions
Compile and/or approve engine repair workscopes of value up to circa £10m
Assessment of engine shop findings reports challenging and developing the OEM repair data
Investigate air safety and ground occurrence reports/events and implement preventative actions
Identify and support simplification and continuous improvement initiatives
Identify cost saving initiatives and deliver to finance plan targets
Evaluate and respond to industry data and knowledge
Essential Qualifications
Degree or minimum of HNC / HND (or equivalent) in an appropriate engineering subject.
Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent industry experience
Experience
High degree of business awareness
Experience of supplier management and business relationship development
Engine hardware knowledge gained through considerable hands on experience
Experience of component, system and material technical investigations
Experience of whole engine and component repair and overhaul processes
Expertise
Safety and quality management systems
Regulatory requirements
Engine design & materials including core engine hardware, engine mechanical and avionic systems and structures
Engine MRO processes and procedures
Ability to hold EASA Part M/145/21 Technical Engineer related company approvals
